Geraldine (“Gerri”) Georgia Sakowsky Smith, November 20, 1925 – June 1, 2024

Beloved wife for over 62 years to the late Philip Smith. Dear Mother of Cheryl B. (Lewis D.) Levey; David A. (Yingli) Smith; and Dr. Steven M. Smith. Dear Grandmother of: Jonathan (Melanie) Levey; Marcy (Brian) Tivol; Joshua (Dr. Gretchen) Levey; Erica Spitzberg Smith; Aaron Micah Spitzberg Smith; Noah Smith and Dara Smith. Dear Great Grandmother of: Elliott Levey; Parker Levey; Violet Tivol; Colin Tivol; Maxwell Levey; Cyril Levey; Emily Spitzberg Smith; Ellie Spitzberg Smith; Sophie Spitzberg Smith; and Simone Spitzberg Smith.

Gerri, Hebrew name Glidah, was born in St. Louis, Missouri as the youngest child of Maurice and Esther (Heisler) Sakowsky. A longtime Resident of The Gatesworth at One McKnight Place, Gerri was a lifetime member of United Hebrew Congregation. She was an avid Bridge player and accomplished Senior Olympic Champion in Tennis and Racquetball. Everyone’s favorite Red Head, Gerri had an amazing sense of humor and boundless, positive energy. She loved to dance. Gerri lived life to its fullest, found the best in everyone and will be sorely missed.
