Gene Burton Pattiz, died February 2, 2011. Born September 9, 1921 in East St. Louis, Ill., he was the oldest of three children. Son of the late Simon and the late Sadie Pattiz; beloved widower of Lucille Kaplan Pattiz for 64 years; loving father of Jay (Jill) Pattiz, Perry (Marcie) Pattiz and Denise (Robert) Bogard; beloved grandfather of Daniel (Karen) Bogard, Brian Pattiz, Michelle Pattiz, Jonathan Bogard and Tenzin Yidok; brother of Dolores (Raymond) Silverberg and the late Howard Pattiz; special uncle and friend to many. Retired years before as a mechanical engineer and a veteran of World War II, he was a 1940 graduate of University City High School and in 1943 received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Washington University. He was active and a leader in many organizations including the Jewish War Veterans, United Hebrew Congregation, ASHRAE professional engineering society, Human Rights Commission of University City, many bowling leagues, singing groups, and in the end the Delmar Gardens Villas and West nursing home. Funeral service Sunday, February 6, 3 p.m. at United Hebrew Congregation, 13788 Conway Road. Visitation Sunday after 2:30 p.m. at United Hebrew Congregation. Interment United Hebrew Temple Cemetery.
