Evelyn Kamenetzky

Evelyn Kamenetzky, passed away on April 4, 2017 at the age of 94, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She was the wife of the late Melvin Kamenetzky, mother to Linda (Kate Sullivan) and Karen (Geoffrey Burgess) Kamenetzky, the grandmother of Josie, Elias, Dawn, Caitlin, and Marcy, and great-grandmother of Asiana.
Evelyn was a firsthand witness to nearly a century of human history and she retained her sense of humor and open mind, throughout it all. After serving in the Navy during the Second World War, both she and Melvin were active members in the Jewish War Veterans.
Later in life, Evelyn founded and operated her own business and was very successful. She shared her knowledge by helping to organize conferences promoting women in business, for which she was a frequent speaker. After she retired, she continued sharing her experience and insight as a volunteer at the SCORE mentorship program. She will be remembered for her boldness and generosity in equal measure.
Whether riding on the back of a motorcycle or an elephant in Thailand, Evelyn was an ardent lover of travel. She made dozens of trips to Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, and the Middle East, returning every time with stories and souvenirs to share with her family. Her quieter days were spent reading, practicing Tai Chi, and listening to Frank Sinatra. She lived in St. Louis for almost her entire life before moving to Georgia.
She will be dearly missed by her family and all those who knew her.
