Emily Hope Rubenstein

Emily Hope Rubenstein, 1958 – 2017

Emily Hope Rubenstein, beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, lost her courageous battle against Cushing Syndrome, Lupus, Diabetes, and related complications on June 21, 2017.  She was 59.

Emily was born in St. Louis, Mo.  During her life she also lived in Ornans France, Providence RI, Rome, Boston, Washington DC, and San Francisco.

Emily was a member of the John Burroughs School class of 1976. While there, she excelled academically, was a gifted writer, and formed many life-long friendships. After John Burroughs, she attended Brown University where she earned her B.A. in Classics with honors.  She capped off her academic career by earning a JD from Northeastern Law School.

Emily was known for her big heart, friendships, terrific sense of humor, and love of life.  Above all, she was a devoted and caring mother to her two sons, and a second mother to many of their friends.

Emily is survived by her sons Matt and Sam Muslin; her brothers Ned and Dan Rubenstein; and her parents Judy and Jerry Rubenstein.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
