Elizabeth Louise Ross, March 25, 2017.
Born May 11, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, she is survived by her daughter Judith R. (Mark) Goodman; her son Judge John A. (Judy) Ross; and dear grandchildren, Lauren (Lex) Lefebvre, William Goodman, Evan Amelia Goodman, Emily Ross, and Joe Ross; and two great grandchildren, Elliott Ross Lefebvre and Chloe Elizabeth Lefebvre. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Bernard Alan Ross; parents, Irene G. and Simon Schnitzer; brother Paul (Carol) Scott; and sister Sally (Eli) Kutten.
Elizabeth was a sensitive, forward-thinking and fun-loving wife, mother, and friend who also made time for community involvement, serving on the Boards of NCJW, Council of Community Organizations and United Way. She taught remedial reading to elementary students at the Gallaudet School, and studied philosophy and psychology in life-long learning classes at Washington University.
Above all, Elizabeth was devoted to her family and available on a moment’s notice to babysit for grandchildren. She loved spending time in Longboat Key, riding horses in the country, and later in life, enjoying old movies like Gigi and South Pacific. She will be truly missed.
The family burial will be private at New Mount Sinai Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family suggests a contribution to the American Diabetes Association of St. Louis, National Council of Jewish Women or Clayton Century Foundation.
