Dr. Arthur Z. Eisen

Dr. Arthur Z. Eisen passed away on November 12, 2017 after a short illness.  He was married for 59 years to his devoted wife, Mimsie Eisen, and is also survived by his son Marshall (Gail) Eisen, daughters Phyllis (Dr. Alex) Kane and Leah (Steve) Pazol, and loving grandchildren: Zev, Hava, Mose and Geli Kane; Eli, Molly and Avery Pazol, and Axel Eisen. In his professional life, Dr. Eisen founded the Division of Dermatology at Washington University in 1967, and remained as Chief of the Division for over 30 years. He was internationally known and recognized for his pioneering work that remained the investigative focus of the Division.  He authored over 150 manuscripts in peer –reviewed journals, wrote several book chapters, and served as editor of a major dermatology textbook.  He was recognized for his contributions to the field by awards from the National Institute of Health, the Society of Investigative Dermatology, and Washington University.  His funeral and burial will take place in Rochester, NY.  Shiva will be held at Dr. Eisen’s home on Saturday 11/18 from 7-9:30; Sunday, 11/19 from 2-4:00pm and 7-9:30pm, Monday, 11/20 from 7-9 pm, and Tuesday, 11/21 from 7-9 pm.  Contributions in his memory may be sent to the Division of Dermatology, the Dr. Arthur Z. Eisen Junior Investigator Award Fund, the Jewish Food Pantry, or any other charity.
