Dora Edelman

Dora Edelman, died June 21, 2015. Dora Edelman (nee Rubin), widow of Abe Edelman, died three weeks prior to her 106th birthday. She was a great-great grandmother, great-grandmother, grandmother, mother of two and friend to many.  Predeceasing her was her mother and father, Clara and Morris Rubin, husband Abe Edelman, sister Esther Rosenberg (Dan), sister Ruth Sarver (Max), brother Sidney Rubin (Leatrice) and Dora’s daughter, Rochelle Scissors, who died July 4, 2000. Dora is survived by daughter Carole Zatlin (Philip), granddaughters Dayle Zatlin (Joel Blumenthal), Caren Forister and grandsons Stuart Zatlin (Suzanne), Derek Scissors (Marci) and Curtis Scissors. She is the great-grandmother of Ted Blumenthal (Cristina), Laura Blumenthal, Ben Zatlin, Ian Zatlin, Kevin Forister and Naomi and Rachel Scissors; great-great grandmother of Kateri Blumenthal. Dora’s life was filled with many activities, including volunteer work with the indigent, working with newborns at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and participating in other Jewish philanthropies. She was a tournament bridge player, a bowling enthusiast, a swimmer, and an active participant at the JCCA in St. Louis. Her strongest role was her ability to be encouraging and emotionally supportive of family members. Dora is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Graveside service, Wednesday, June 24, 10:30 a.m. at B’nai Amoona Cemetery, 930 North & South Road, University City. Contributions to the charity of your choice.
