Diana Smit (nee Olian), October 15, 2016.

Beloved wife of the late Dr. H.M. Smit; dear mother of the late Captain Michael M. Smit and Caren Thillens; grandmother of Michael Smit and the late Kelle Lewis; great-grandmother of Audrey Smit, Katherine Smit, Brittany Smith, Brad Ollar, Blake Ollar and Carter O’Neil; mother-in-law of Marilyn Smit and Tom Thillens; she was one of nine children of whom none survive; aunt, great aunt, and friend to many. 

Diana was a very loving and kind-hearted person. She loved to entertain and be with family and friends telling stories and laughing with them, she was the true matriarch of her family. Her sense of humor and smile never faded throughout her life of 104 years. Diana will be missed dearly because of her wit, kind words, wisdom and most importantly her love. 

Services: Graveside service at United Hebrew Cemetery 7855 Canton Ave., University City, 63130 Friday, October 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Swim Across America benefiting the Siteman Cancer Center in honor of Diana’s children, Caren Thillens and Michael Smit.
