Darryl Kessler

The beloved Darryl Kessler, 83, died of natural causes at his home in Rockford, IL, on September 19, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents Bertha and Samuel Kessler, his sister Elaine Kessler Butterfield, his grandmother Jennie Lefton, and great-nephew Hunter Charles Webb. Darryl will be forever missed by his sister June (Michael) Behrmann, brother-in-law Larry Butterfield, nieces Betsy (Ryan) Webb and Katie (Jordan) Schoen, and nephews Jonathan (Becky) Behrmann and Zachary Behrmann, along with other family, step-family members and friends. A St. Louis native, Darryl was an entrepreneur who studied art at the University of Missouri, served in the U.S. Army and worked in the material handling industry. Darryl crafted clever Facebook commentary, followed the news closely and communicated with elected officials. He enjoyed music, dancing, fine art, a good meal, a great deal and playing handball. He earned accolades as a volunteer and fundraiser for Head Start in Rockford. He also loved to spoil his great nieces and nephews. An honorary commitment service will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 10, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery (2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO 63125).
