Cookbook author dies at age 88

Audrey Senturia, a cookbook author and long-time volunteer at Call For Action and the Missouri Botanical Garden, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, of kidney failure at her home at the Gatesworth in St. Louis, where she lived for the last 14 years.
Mrs. Senturia was born on February 18, 1917, in St. Louis and graduated from Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She was married for 49 years to Dr. Hyman Senturia, a radiologist, who died in 1991. The couple met during World War II when she worked as a nurse for the U.S. Army. Mrs. Senturia’s parents were Gilbert and Clara Goldstein, and she had a sister Bea who predeceased her. She is survived by her son Neil of LaJolla, California, and two grandchildren, Rachel, a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, and Ethan, a sophomore at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her daughter Jane died in 1975.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the BJC Hospice. A Rindskopf-Roth Service
