Bruce Fleissig, August 21, 1953 – January 3, 2025
Bruce “Fly” Fleissig passed away too early on January 3, 2025, at age 71, from complications following surgery. He was born on Aug. 21, 1953, to Jack and Carol (Feldman) Fleissig in New York. He grew up on the south shore of Long Island, in Freeport, NY. He was an athlete, and played tennis through high school, and recreationally as an adult, and was a runner. He remained friends with many of his elementary school classmates. Bruce got his BS in accounting from State Univ. of NY at Buffalo, and later an MBA from St. Louis University.
Bruce met and fell in love with Audrey Goldstein when they were each working in Atlanta after college. He followed her to St. Louis when she returned there for law school. Bruce loved business, and worked at the family business started by Marvin Goldstein, Missouri Machinery and Engineering and HydroDramatics. He later became a partner/owner and worked there until his retirement.
Bruce was a wonderful and thoughtful father to their two incredible children, Matthew Martin Fleissig and Rachel Allison Fleissig, and granddaughter, Gloria. He coached their sports teams, including softball, basketball, and soccer, earning the moniker “Coach.” He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball (becoming a Cards fan), football and especially tennis, and was an avid reader and puzzler. He loved music, including the Beatles, the Grateful Dead and John Prine, and he played and collected guitars. But mostly he loved spending time with his family, his dear friends, and their standard poodles. He was known for sending funny stories, cartoons, and words of encouragement to others.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Audrey Fleissig, his children, Rachel and Matt (Kirsten), and granddaughter Gloria; his sisters in New York, Joyce Fleissig-Album and Ellen Bisogno (Frank); nieces and nephew Sam Album, Rae Album (Michael) and Annika Bisogno; his aunt Suzanne Goldstein (Barry); and sisters-in-law Carol Zuckner (Dan) and Barbara Ferman (Michael) and children Cori Cohen (Andy) and Erin Vine (Eli).
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jack and Carol, and in-laws Betty and Marvin Goldstein and brother-in-law Lewis Goldstein.
