Brian Elliott Jolliffe Stapp

Brian Elliott Jolliffe Stapp, 52, passed away on August 16, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri due to complications from Pancreatic Cancer.

Brian was born in Wichita, Kansas to James and Corinne Stapp on July 4, 1966.  As a son of an Air Force Officer, he attended a number of schools across the US.  The family then settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  As a gifted trumpet player, Brian was involved in many musical organizations such as the Highland and UNM Marching bands, UNM Jazz and Spirit Bands, Albuquerque Youth Symphony, the New Mexico All State band and the Albuquerque Philharmonia.  Brian also was a lead actor and President of the Thespian Society and Drum Major for the Highland High Band.  In college he performed during half time for the NFL for the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers.   He received Presidential and music Scholarships to the University of New Mexico. 

He married Michelle Landau on June 29th, 1991 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked as an engineer for Honeywell in Albuquerque for 14 years and Boeing in St. Louis for 13 years. 

Brian cherished his time with his family.  He coached his daughter, Alexis’ soccer teams, and assisted in coaching T-ball with his son, Jacob.  He and daughter Emmaleah shared a love for the St. Louis Cardinals that had them attending many games.  Brian spent his free time playing Mario Cart, watching Doctor Who, enjoying the humor of Monty Python, and singing and listening to every genre of music with all of his kids.  Brian’s evenings were spent snuggling with his wife, Michelle, while watching movies, Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee.  Brian was the most amazing, kind, gentle, patient and sweet soul.  He will be missed every minute of every day.   “Brian, I love you more today than yesterday and twice as much as tomorrow, Michelle.”

Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents Eileen and James Clayton Stapp and Charles and Helen Jolliffe.   Brian is survived by his wife Michelle, children Alexis, Emmaleah and Jacob, sister, Adrea Broughton, and parents James and Corinne Stapp.  He is also mourned by his loving father in law David Landau and brothers in law Neil Landau and Robert Broughton, along with niece and nephew Kristen and Joshua Broughton.

Memorial service Sunday, August 26, 12:00 PM at Congregation Shaare Emeth, 11645 Ladue Road.  No visitation prior to service.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA, 90266.   The family of Brian wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the hospice unit at Barnes Jewish hospital for their loving care of their patient and our dear father, brother, husband and son.
