Bernard Schneider

Bernard Schneider, died March 30, 2014 at age 87 in Naples, Fl. after a short illness. He was principal Trombonist for the SLSO for 32 years and served on the auditioning committee for several years. In addition to his position with the SSO, he was principal trombonist for the Israeli Philharmonic, The Ballet Russe, the NY Metropolitan Opera and the original production of the Three Penny Opera. Before serving in the Army during WWII, he was a student at the Julliard School of Music. After WWII, he graduated from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fl. and later obtained a Masters in music from the St. Louis Institute of Music. In addition to performing, he taught music at several St. Louis institutions of higher education including Washington University and SIU-Edwardsville. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Roslyn Schneider, a daughter Alison Schneider of Santa Rosa, Calif. And two sons, William Schneider of Denver, Colo. and Ari Schneider of Naples, Fl. His family was a member of B’nai Amoona.
