Bernard David Tischler, April 2, 1939 – August 27, 2025; Bernard (“Bernie”) David Tischler was born to Sylvia and Samuel Tischler (both deceased). He was previously married to Marcia Preston (deceased 1980) and later married Jean Shifrin Schneider.
Bernie graduated as valedictorian of his Cleveland High School class of 1957, then went on to Washington University, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business. He taught at Washington University before beginning a long and fulfilling career as a stockbroker and financial advisor with Smith Moore & Company, retiring in 2023.
Bernie and Marcia had two children, Rand and Laurie. After Marcia’s passing in 1980, Bernie devoted himself to raising their children while continuing his career and teaching. Later, he shared many happy years with his wife, Jean.
Known for his quick wit and love of puns, Bernie had a gift for making people smile. He was always ready to “talk shop”—his way of sharing his passion for the stock market and his genuine interest in helping others navigate it. He and Jean also spent many summers in Sun Valley, where he delighted in the mountain beauty and the symphony concerts in town.
