Bernard “Bernie” Perlmutter

Bernard “Bernie” Perlmutter, died October 20, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Beloved husband of the late Adele (Sampson) Perlmutter for 64 years. Dear mother of Mark (Alexis) Perlmutter of San Francisco and Bill (Marjorie) Perlmutter of Houston; dear grandfather of Eric (Robin) Perlmutter, Lindsay (Fritz) Fitzpatrick, Maggie Perlmutter, and Celeste (Louis) Gerschen; dear great-grandfather of Emma, Adam, and Maggie; dear brother of Arline Brilliant and Larry Perlmutter, both of St. Louis. Bernie was born on August 29, 1920 in St. Louis to George and Sarah Perlmutter. He earned his BA at Washington University and then served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a weatherman. His group signaled the clearing of the weather that enabled allied aircraft to beat back advancing Nazi forces at the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he met and married Adele Sampson of Houston and soon moved to Houston. His career in commercial real estate spanned 60 years; he held key positions in various Houston real estate professional organizations.
