Barry Robert Hyatt, age 84, of Creve Coeur, Mo., passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018, at home. He was the beloved husband of Salve Hyatt; dear father and father-in-law of David (Lisa Henry) Hyatt and Jennifer (Barry) Kuhlmann; dear grandfather of Devin Hyatt and Spencer Hyatt; and dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Barry Hyatt, who attended Washington University in St. Louis, was a man of many talents. In addition to his most important role as a devoted family man, he was a skilled jeweler as well as an accomplished musician and actor. As the founder and sole proprietor of Barry Hyatt Jeweler, in Creve Coeur, Mo., he experienced great success through the years, attracting many customers who remained loyal, satisfied clients for decades. A graduate of the Gemological Institute of America, he won the national Diamonds Today by DeBeers Design Award in 1981. As a musician, he was the lead trumpet player and director of the Moolah Shriners Band of St. Louis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Masons and the Shriners for over 60 years. As a thespian, he acted in local amateur theater on many stages over the past four decades, in nearly 70 plays, including the historic Goldenrod Showboat and the New Jewish Theater, for which he served as a member of the Board of Directors. He also appeared in several television commercials and in radio dramas.  

Known for his dry, witty sense of humor, Barry Hyatt enjoyed making those around him smile and laugh…reminiscent of his own father’s way with people. At the same time, he was dedicated to preserving a sense of honor and excellence in all he did and in his dealings with others, garnering great respect among his friends and colleagues.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Berger Memorial Chapel, 9430 Olive Blvd., Olivette, Mo., 63132. The entombment service will take place Monday, November 12, at 10:00 a.m. at Bellerive Garden Cemetery Mausoleum, 740 Mason Rd., Creve Coeur, Mo., 63141, with a Military Honor service and a Masonic service. Mr. Hyatt was a Masonic Member of Olive Branch Lodge, No. 576 A.F. & A.M. and Moolah Shrine.
