Barbara Zetcher Lowry

Barbara Zetcher Lowry, died August 19, 2014 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Survived by her son Cary (Pam) Lowry; grandson Nash Lowry, brother Ron (Susan) Zetcher, nieces Stephanie (Andy) Brown, Jennifer (Greg) Wittner, Kimberlie (Mark) Heligman, Emilie (Joe) Brockman, Jessica Zetcher, Leeanne Pritchard, and nephew Scott (Cindy) Katz. After graduating from Washington University, she made her home in Dallas, Tx.  She held numerous corporate positions including several years with Texas Instruments.  Barbara and her former husband founded Lowry Custom Pools. A particular passion for investments brought her to a group of like-minded women who founded Million Dollar Mavens, a successful investment group. Barbara was very active in the Dallas Jewish community particularly at her temple, Adat Chaverim.  Her activities included helping the president of the congregation, Robert Luss, as a member of the Finance Committee, a very active role in the Sisterhood, and work on numerous temple boards.  In recognition of her numerous contributions, a room at the temple will be named in her honor.  Barbara was the membership vice-president of the Dallas Region of Women’s American ORT.  She also belonged to Haddassah. The family would like to send a special thank you to her hospice caregiver, Arlene Ardern, as well as her cousin Dr. Bernie Golar.  Thanks to her cherished friends Meri Ann Lawson, Marcy Prager, Deborah Pulley, Sylvia Raskas, Carol Rothschild, Barbara Schwartz, Carol Tessler, and Claudette Wolfe who supported Barbara throughout her battle. Special thanks to Rabbi Benjamin D. Sternman whose visits always brought a smile to her face. Funeral service Monday, August 25, 10:00 AM at United Hebrew Congregation, 13788 Conway Road with interment to follow at United Hebrew Cemetery, 7855 Canton Avenue.  Visitation for Mrs. Lowry 9:30 am Monday.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Barbara can make a contribution to the Adat Chaverim Building Fund, 6300 Independence Parkway, Suite A, Plano, TX 75023.
