Their seven grandchildren kept him young at heart and he took pleasure watching them grow. Born to Belle and Benjamin Ansehl, Arthur grew up in Flora Place, just a few blocks from Shaw’s Garden. He loved to share stories about his youth, his knowledge of St. Louis history and his overall love of the city.Arthur spent five years in the Navy during World War II. Upon returning to St. Louis he worked alongside his two brothers Harry and Jack and subsequently became President of the Benjamin Ansehl Company, a world leader in the manufacturing of private label toiletries. His passion for St. Louis extended into sports as well. At the age of eight his parents became season ticket holders of the St. Louis Browns and then the St. Louis Cardinals. Throughout the years, he maintained his loyalty to the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams.
