Alice Ruback

Alice Ruback (née Wolff), passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Denver. She was born on July 1, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Soldan High School, where she met her husband, Lenny Ruback. The two married on January 15, 1949, while both at Washington University and later moved to Denver where they raised their three daughters. For many years she was deeply involved in the Jewish community of Denver: she ran programming for senior citizens at the Jewish Community Center, and taught Religious School at Temple Emanuel for over 30 years, as well as being Program Director there. She volunteered to read books on tape for the blind, and cultivated a wide array of friendships over her many decades in Denver. Alice is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Ruback, and survived by daughters Dona (David) Wise of Atlanta, GA, Janet (AJ) Gest of Denver, CO, and Lois (David) Zuckerman of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Kim (Elana) Wise, Jordan Wise, Julia Wise, Jacob (Audrey) Gest, Tovah (Logan) Fair, Maren (Matt) Safran, Rachael Zuckerman, Jeffrey Zuckerman, and Aaron Zuckerman; and great-grandchildren Ahuva, Tzvi, Emmy, and Gavi Wise, and Huxley Fair. She was loved and will be remembered for her matriarchial patience, her wry wisdom, her unwavering smile, and her self-assured independence. Contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
