Albert M. Melman, died September 11, 2014. Beloved husband of Joy Melman; dear father and father-in-law of Robin (Gary) Feder, Ken (Kathy, Ph.D.) Melman, MD and Mark Melman, MD; dear grandfather of Jessica (Jeremy) Gamlin, Rabbi Amy (Rabbi Michael Alper) Feder, Jenna Melman and David Melman; dear great-grandfather of Mackenzie and Parker Gamlin and Jonah and Molly Alper; dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Leonora (the late Dr. David) Koggan; our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many. Al was born on March 3, 1924 in San Marcos, TX. He grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Soldan High School and Washington University (’48), where he was an active member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. During WWII, he served as 1st Lieutenant and meteorologist in the US Air Corps. He was married to his beloved wife, Joy, for 65 years. Al was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Raskin, Melman and Raskin and Albert M. Melman, Inc., which later became Melman, Alton and Company. He was a longstanding member of Congregation Temple Israel, where he served as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. He was an avid fisherman, golf and tennis player, life-long learner, lover of the outdoors and world traveler.  He was a Master Gardener and volunteered at Shaw Nature Reserve and the Missouri Botanical Garden for many years. Funeral service 2 PM, Friday, September 12th at Congregation Temple Israel – May Chapel, Ladue and Spoede Roads. Visitation begins at 1:30 PM at Congregation Temple Israel. Interment follows at New Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 8430 Gravois Road. Contributions in his memory may be made to Congregation Temple Israel, #1 Rabbi Alvan D.
