Adele Ehrenthal, nee Portnoy

Adele Ehrenthal, nee Portnoy, died August 6, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Irving Ehrenthal; cherished mother of Thera Ehrenthal Finbloom (Sam) Swersky, Donna Eherenthal (Gary) Lakowski, and Reena Ehrenthal (Bart) Jareb; proud grandmother of Kate and Terri Lakowski, Aaron and Joel Finbloom; predeceased by her beloved brother Dr. Maurice Portnoy and sisters Hilda Rovin, Irene Weiner and Trudy Portnoy; fond aunt of Debbie Pultman, Sherryl May, Jeffrey Weiner, Perrie Weiner, Madeline Rogoff, Elan Portnoy and Orin Portnoy. Adele devoted her life to serving others whether by caring for her family or volunteering at the many organizations she supported. As a teenager in New York City, she joined Hashomer Hadati, a Jewish religious youth group.  There she worked tirelessly on behalf of the establishment of a Jewish national homeland and began her lifelong love and support of the land of Israel. Adele and Irv moved from Brooklyn to St. Louis in the 1950’s and she quickly became part of the community, volunteering at the local Jewish day school. She was an active member of Hadassah and worked at the League of Women Voters. Graveside services were Sunday, 10:30 am at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Road, Chesterfield, Mo.
