Marla Sue Cohen, 78, of St. Louis, MO passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025. Marla was born in Oak Ridge Tennessee in the tail end of World War Two where her father was an engineer with the Manhattan Project. Marla was the second of four children of Bernard and Thelma Stiller. She graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School. She matriculated to Washington University and met her life long partner, Ed Cohen. After graduation, they married on June 16, 1968 and were soul mates for over 56 years. In Columbia MO, while Ed was in Medical School, she worked at the Freedom of Information Center. After moving to St. Louis, she became a lifelong community volunteer. She enjoyed tennis, golf, travel, bridge and frequently entertaining family and friends. Most of all, Marla was an avid reader throughout her life.
A devoted mother, she raised 3 boys, Jeffrey, Steve and Dan. Her six grandchildren were her true prize and joy: Annie, Jane, Charlie, Caroline (CeCe), Alexandra and Samantha. She fostered steadfast friends from all stages of her life from wherever she resided.
Predeceased by her parents, the late Bernard and late Thelma, her in-laws late Joe and late Mollie Cohen, brother late Jonathan and late Charles Stiller, Marla is survived by Edward, her sons Jeffrey (Michelle), Stephen, Dan (Emily), her grandchildren and brother William (Neva) Stiller, brother-in-law Sanford (Jo Linda) Cohen and sister-in-law Merle (late Robert) Tegman.
Funeral service Tuesday, May 20th, 10:00 AM at Congregation B’nai Amoona, 324 S. Mason Road. No visitation prior to service. Private family interment. Visit bergermemorialchapel.com for more information.
