On June 18th, Mendel Rubenfeld, son of Rabbi Avi and Chanala Rubenfeld (Chabad of Chesterfield) grandson of Rabbi Yosef and Shiffy Landa (Chabad of Greater St. Louis) and Yosef and Fagy Rubenfeld, became a Rabbi by receiving smicha, rabbinical ordination from Yeshiva Achei Tmimim Lubavitch in Brooklyn, New York under the leadership of Rabbi Levi Tzukernick.
Many people in the community who have known Mendel since a young child have been calling him a Rabbi in training for many years, but now it is official. As Elaine Epstein shared, “I remember Mendel as a young boy sitting near me at Shabbat dinner and holidays. I had many questions and would turn to Mendel who always explained things to me on a level I could understand. I called him my mini Rabbi.”
Rabbi Mendel Rubenfeld will continue his studies this coming year and will graduate from Achei Tmimim with a BA in June 2024.
