WASHINGTON (JTA) — Four women members of the Knesset are touring the United States to study the role of women in legislatures.

“The members of Knesset will meet with their counterparts in the U.S. Congress and their staffs to see the scope of the legislative process,” said a statement this week by the State Department, which is hosting the delegation.

The women will “explore legislative techniques used in the United States, as well as U.S. efforts to promote opportunities for women in public service,” it said.

The delegation, comprised of Michal Biran and Stav Shaffir of the opposition Labor Party, Yifat Kariv of the coalition Yesh Atid Party and Ayelet Shaked of the coalition Jewish Home Party, are also scheduled to meet with Maryland state legislators during the tour, which runs from April 27-May 2.
