ROME (JTA) — Parks in two Italian cities were renamed to honor two deceased Jewish heroes.
At a ceremony Friday, a city park in Turin was formally named the Simon Wiesenthal Garden, in honor of the Holocaust survivor and Nazi-hunter who died in 2005.
Also last week, a park in Bologna was named after the assassinated Israeli prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin.
Local mayors, other officials and Jewish community representatives took part in the inaugural ceremonies in both cities.
