WASHINGTON (JTA) — Top Homeland Security officials headlined a two-day workshop hosted by the national Jewish community’s security arm.
John Cohen, a senior adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, and William Flynn, the deputy assistant secretary of infrastructure protection, addressed on Wednesday the inaugural “Jewish Communal Security Leadership Summit” in New York, convened by Secure Community Network.
SCN is an arm of the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
Napolitano delivered an unscheduled 15-minute video-streamed appearance.
Other sessions during the confab on Wednesday and Thursday included briefings from New York Police Department and FBI officials as well as workshops led by officials of Jewish federations.
Sessions addressed securing day schools and applying for federal funds to secure Jewish institutions.
