JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Israeli men were shot and wounded by a member of the Palestinian Authority security force.

An Israeli civilian was seriously injured and an IDF soldier lightly wounded in the Thursday morning attack at the Hizme checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

The Palestinian shooter was shot and killed at the scene.

According to the IDF, the attacker drove to the checkpoint, got out of his vehicle and began shooting at Israeli soldiers on duty there.

The Palestinian Maan news agency later identified the shooter as Mazin Hasan Ureiba from Abu Dis, an officer in the Palestinian Authority general intelligence service and a father of four.

Later on Thursday, an Israeli  police officer was stabbed and seriously injured in a stabbing attack near the Damascus Gate, an entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. The stabber reportedly was shot and killed at the scene.
