JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two would-be Palestinian stabbers were killed as they attempted to carry out attacks in the West Bank.

A Palestinian teen was shot dead as he allegedly attempted to carry out a stabbing attack at the Gush Etzion junction in the West Bank.

The teen, identified by the Palestinian Maan news agency as Mamoun al-Khatib, 16, from the village of Doha near Bethlehem, reportedly approached people waiting for rides at the junction while wielding a knife on Tuesday morning.

One of the bystanders was injured, reportedly by a bullet fired at the attacker by security forces, according to the Israel Police.

The junction has been the site of several stabbing and car ramming attacks by Palestinians against Israelis in recent weeks.

Later Tuesday morning, a female Palestinian, 19, from Nablus was shot and killed as she attempted to stab an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint next to the Einav settlement in the northern West Bank, according to the IDF.
