JERUSALEM (JTA) — Turkey released a bird it accused of working for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.
The bird was set free following an X-ray examination that determined it was not equipped with a microchip or other bugging device, the Hurriyet Turkish daily newspaper reported Friday.
Turkish authorities had detained the bird after residents of the Altınavya village had become suspicious upon finding a metal ring around its leg stamped with the words “24311 Tel Avivunia Israel.”
The tag reportedly was placed on the bird in order to track migration routes.
