Trump and Cruz to headline rally opposing Iran deal

(JTA) — Both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz will speak at a Washington, D.C. rally against the Iran nuclear deal.

The two Republican presidential candidates each will appear at a Sept. 9 rally sponsored by the Zionist Organization of America, the pro-Israel group announced Thursday.

The deal, which lifts sanctions on Iran in exchange for it curbing its nuclear program, was finalized between Iran and six world powers, including the United States, last month. Congress will vote on the deal in September, and President Obama has promised to veto any rejection.

The Israeli government and numerous American Jewish organizations, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, oppose the deal. However, hundreds of rabbis and several prominent Jews, including some Democratic congressmen, have come out in support of it.
