JERUSALEM (JTA) — Syrian President Bashar Assad transported some of its chemical weapons to the terrorist group Hezbollah, a Saudi newspaper reported.
The daily Al-Watan newspaper reported Monday, citing an opposition leader, that the Syrian government had transferred some of its chemical weapons stockpile to Hezbollah hidden in trucks that transport vegetables.
Some of the weapons also were smuggled to Russia, according to Syrian Coalition member Kamal Al Labwani.
Other unconfirmed reports say that Syria has spread its chemical weapons stockpile throughout 50 different locations within the country; or to Iraq.
Israel has expressed concern that Syria’s weapons will fall into the hands of terror groups bent on the Jewish State’s destruction, including Hezbollah.
