Singer Michael Bolton makes first visit to Israel

JERUSALEM (JTA) — American singer-songwriter Michael Bolton arrived in Israel for his first visit to the Jewish state.

“Hello from Tel Aviv!!! It’s my first time in Israel and I’m excited to be here, even though it’s a short trip. What country is top of YOUR list to visit???” he said in a message posted Monday on Facebook.

His message did not indicate the purpose of his trip or how long he would be staying.

Responses to the post included welcomes to Israel as well as criticism of his visit to an “apartheid state.”

Bolton, 62, born Michael Bolotin, is Jewish.
