(JTA) — A 23-year-old Scottish man was sentenced to six months in prison for sending a Jewish woman a photo of himself with a Nazi flag.
Nicholas Goodwin of Troon, on the west coast of Scotland, was convicted last week of racially aggravated harassment, the Scottish newspaper the Daily Record reported Sunday.
Goodwin had admitted to sending the photo of himself and a friend with the flag, which was emblazoned with a large swastika, to Elissa Wilson in a Facebook message on Jan. 29, two days after the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz..
“When I saw that picture I felt instantly sick,” Wilson told the newspaper. “I felt it was a threat and I was frightened. It’s disgusting.”
Goodwin is serving the sentence consecutively with another jail sentence for a separate racist incident, according to the newspaper.
