WASHINGTON (JTA) — Steve Rothman, a former top congressional defense appropriator from New Jersey, joined a law firm to represent defense firms.
Sills, Cummis and Gross “is looking to build a practice that will represent aeronautics and defense industry clients,” Rothman told the NJBiz website in a story posted Thursday. “My experience with defense issues and my familiarity with how to get one’s foot in the door for consideration at the Pentagon stems from my eight years as a member of the House appropriations subcommittee on defense — a 25-person subcommittee that recommends all of the military spending for the U.S.”
Rothman, a leading pro-Israel lawmaker in the U.S. House of Representatives, was defeated last year in a primary battle against fellow Democrat Rep. Bill Pascrell after redistricting.
Rothman was a central player in obtaining funding for Israel’s anti-missile programs.
