Romanoff loses congressional challenge in Colorado

(JTA) — Jewish challenger Andrew Romanoff lost his congressional race against incumbent Mike Coffman in Colorado’s 6th Congressional district.

The Denver Post and TV news station Fox31 have both called the race for Coffman.

Romanoff, a Democrat and former speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, engaged his Republican opponent in a hard-fought, high-spending race but ultimately came up short.

Long a conservative, Coffman has been forced to moderate his rhetoric since redistricting turned the 6th from a conservative redoubt into a swing district.
