Rocket fired from Gaza lands near southern Israeli kibbutz

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed near a kibbutz in southern Israel.

Code Red rocket alert sirens sounded in communities near the border with Gaza on Thursday evening.

The rocket landed in an open field and caused no damage or injuries.

It is the second rocket fired at southern Israel from Gaza this week. Israel’s Air Force on Sunday struck two Hamas military posts in Gaza on Sunday in retaliation for a rocket fired from the coastal strip at southern Israel.

Twenty-two rockets fired from Gaza have hit Israeli territory this year, according to figures from the Israel Defense Forces.
