(JTA) — Burglars daubed an anti-Semitic slogan on the wall of the home of a leader of a French Jewish community.

“Dirty Jews, long live Palestine” was scrawled last week in red lipstick on the walls of the first floor apartment in Bondy, in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, according to a report published Tuesday on the website of the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA.

The watchdog identified the male victim only by his initials, A.B.

After breaking a window to enter the apartment, the robbers threw clothes and other items on the floor before leaving with jewelry worth $10,000 and other valuables, the BNVCA report said.

BNVCA quoted the victim as saying that he intended to leave Bondy for a safer locale.

The victim “fulfilled the duties of an administrator alongside the president” of the Jewish community, the statement read.

BNVCA reported an increase in property crimes that are aggravated because of anti-Semitic elements.

Earlier this month, three masked men of African descent armed with handguns sequestered a Jewish family, two parents and their daughter, in Le Blanc-Mesnil near the capital.

One or more of the men also attacked the daughter, causing “serious injuries” that required hospitalization, the report said. The parents were injured as well and hospitalized. BNVCA said the perpetrators told the family they had targeted their home because they were Jewish and have money.

In December, three culprits robbed the home of a Jewish family in Creteil near Paris because it was owned by Jews, whom they assumed had money. One of the robbers raped a Jewish woman at the home while another was guarding her cuffed boyfriend and the third robber was withdrawing cash using cards he stole.
