(JTA) — Israel Air Force jets carried out several strikes in the Gaza Strip, injuring seven people, Palestinian media reported.
The strikes Friday resulted in minor to moderate injuries, mostly to civilians, according to the Palestinian Maan news agency. One of the people wounded was a child, according to the report.
One strike targeted a building in northwest Gaza. Another two missiles targeted an abandoned building near Beisan park in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. Israeli missiles also struck north of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and a military site of Hamas’ armed wing.
“In response to the rocket fire at Israel, IAF aircraft targeted overnight a terror activity site and a weapon manufacturing facility in the northern Gaza strip and a weapon storage facility in the southern Gaza Strip,” the IDF Spokesman’s unit said in a statement. “Direct hits were confirmed.”
January has seen an upsurge in Palestinian rocket attacks from Gaza on southern Israel.
