Rabbi Ovadia Yosef hospitalized after fall

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, spiritual leader of the Sephardic haredi Orthodox Shas party, was hospitalized after falling in his home.

Yosef, 92, was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital on Sunday evening after reportedly losing consciousness and falling in his home while making his way to a synagogue adjacent to his home.

He may have broken a bone, possibly his leg, Ynet reported, and is reported to be conscious but in great pain.

Shas Party Chairman Aryeh Deri accompanied Yosef to the hospital.

In January, Yosef was hospitalized after suffering a stroke.
