JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian woman who tried to stab an Israeli soldier in Hebron was shot during the attempt.

The woman, 18, attempted to stab soldiers Tuesday morning at the city’s Kikar HaShoter checkpoint which separates the Palestinian and Jewish sections of Hebron. Troops opened fire on the woman, hitting her. She was treated on the scene, the Israel Defense Forces reported, and later taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in critical condition, according to reports.

On Monday night, a Palestinian teen died in an explosion near Hebron. It is believed he was preparing to throw a grenade or firebomb at an IDF patrol and that it exploded prematurely.
