JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Palestinian teenage girls injured two men in a stabbing attack at the central Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem.

Both of the teens, ages 14 and 16, were shot during the Monday morning attack after ignoring police orders to drop their weapons, which were scissors, according to police. One of the attackers died at the scene and the second was taken to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek medical center with serious injuries.

One of the injured men, 70, is a Palestinian from Bethlehem. The second, a guard, 27, was injured while trying to help the older man, according to reports.

It is the first stabbing attack in Jerusalem in nearly two weeks. The attack comes after three stabbing attacks in the West Bank the day before that left a 21-year-old Israeli woman dead.
