JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli policeman was stabbed in the shoulder by a Palestinian girl, 14, in the Jordan Valley.

The assailant, identified by police as being from the village of Ouja, outside Jericho,  attacked the police officer, identified as being in his 40s, on Thursday morning as he directed traffic on Route 90 where a tree had fallen over the highway. The highway runs through the teen’s home village.

The policeman was lightly wounded, and taken for treatment to HaEmek hospital in Afula.

The attack comes less than a day after two Israeli soldiers were stabbed by Palestinian attackers in the West Bank in front of the Har Bracha settlement near Nablus.
