JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian teen attempting to cut through the security fence near south of Hebron reportedly was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers.

Youssef Shawamra, 15, was killed Wednesday while attempting to cross the fence, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported. Maan reported that troops did not warn the teen before they shot him, and that his body remains with the IDF.

The Israel Defense Forces told the French news agency AFP that soldiers had identified three Palestinians attempting to sabotage the fence and called on them to move away from the fence before opening fire.
