WARSAW (JTA) — Police in northern Poland arrested a man who harassed a woman at the synagogue of Gdansk and allegedly attempted to break into the building.

The 31-year-old suspect arrived at the synagogue of Gdansk Tuesday evening and climbed on a first-floor windowsill, where he proceeded to insult a woman who was leaving the premises, the news website Fakty reported.

The report neither identified the suspect nor specified what the man told the woman but, according to the Fakty report, he was charged with hate speech and attempted breaking and entering.

Police determined he was inebriated during the attack. During an investigation, the suspect claimed to remember nothing from the night of the incident.
