JERUSALEM (JTA) — Leket Israel, the National Food Bank, which distributes food to Israel’s needy, marked its 10th anniversary.
The group honored its growth and its volunteers during a dinner Sunday attended by 900 people.
The organization says it provides nutritional support to more than 140,000 needy Israelis every week, which could not be done, according to Joseph Gitler, Leket Israel founder and chairman, “without the assistance of 50,000 annual volunteers, our dedicated supporters and our generous food donors.”
Eleven individuals and organizations were honored at the dinner.
