Knife-wielding Palestinian teen detained in Hebron

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian teen was apprehended by security forces after arriving at a Border Police checkpoint in Hebron with a knife.
The boy, 16, was disarmed and detained on Wednesday morning at an entrance to the Cave of the Patriarchs, a site that that is holy to both Jews and Muslims, according to the Israel Police.
Several Palestinian stabbing attacks and attempted stabbing attacks on Israeli security forces have taken place in the vicinity of the site in the West Bank city of Hebron in the last several weeks.
On Tuesday, Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian gunman and injured two other Palestinians after they were shot at near the West Bank village of Turmus Ayya, located near the Jewish settlement of Shiloh.
