(JTA) — A Palestinian man threw acid at a Jewish family of five in the West Bank and was then shot and wounded by a civilian as he attempted to flee.

Israeli police arrested the Palestinian attacker and took him to a hospital, The Associated Press reported.

The assailant hurled the liquid acid through the car window on Friday afternoon near a checkpoint between the West Bank settlement of Beitar Illit and the Palestinian village of Husan, the Times of Israel reported.

The five members of the Jewish family were slightly injured, suffering light burns.
