ROME (JTA) — A participant in the 14th season of the Italian edition of Big Brother represented Israel in the Expo Milan.

Simone Nicastri, 25, entered the Big Brother house as a contestant in the popular reality show late last month.

Nicastri previously worked at Israel’s pavilion at the Expo Milan, a six-month global technology showcase that concludes at the end of October. Nicastri welcomed visitors to the pavilion and introduced them to its exhibits. His work, the Italian Jewish magazine Pagine Ebraiche reported, earned him the nickname “Israeli Puppy.”

“I am proud to represent this country, which I didn’t know well before the Expo,” Nicastri said in interviews before he entered the Big Brother house.”I learned many surprising things and I admire its ability to overcome the shortage of water and becoming a country of excellence in so many fields.”

Nicastri is a university student studying math, and calls himself “a nerd” because of his passion for videogames and for algebraic formulas.
