JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Israel Defense Forces finished evacuating the Oz Zion outpost in the West Bank, a day after coming under attack by settlers there.
The evacuation was completed late Saturday night, after 200 male high school students who had come to the outpost to spend the Shabbat left the outpost, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Some 25 families live on the outpost, according to Haaretz.
The IDF had attempted to evacuate the outpost on Friday evening, after the teens had arrived for Shabbat. The soldiers retreated after coming under attack by rocks thrown by the youth. Five Border Police Officers were lightly wounded in the attempt.
Several buildings on the site were demolished Saturday night. It is not the first time this year that the outpost has been evacuated.
Oz Zion is located near the Beit El settlement jjust off Route 60 and next to the Givat Assaf outpost.
