Israeli jet fighter crashes into sea, pilot and navigator eject safely

JERUSALEM (JTA) — The pilot and navigator of an Israeli Air Force fighter jet that crashed into the Mediterranean Sea ejected safely.
The F-16 fighter was on a training flight when it crashed off the Gaza coast on Sunday afternoon.
The pilot, a flight instructor, and the navigator, who was being trained, parachuted into the sea and were rescued, according to reports.
On Twitter, the the Israel Defense Forces said engine failure caused the crash.
F-16 and F-15 planes used for training flights have been grounded, the IDF said, until a full investigation into the crash has been completed.
